Fantasy is not my favorite genre. I feel like I just can’t connect with any of the characters and the story is just so out there. But this year one of my goals is to read more fantasy. I see so many reviews on Bookstagram of fantasy books and people just rave about them. I feel like I’m missing out. So I’m jumping in and going head first!
The House in the Cerulean Sea is the first one I picked. I listened to it on audiobook from Scribd. This book is super popular right now and after finishing it I can totally see why. You guys this book is AMAZING!! It is now one of my favorite books I have ever read! The story is so full of emotion and life lessons. The characters while not relatable were perfect. Each of them flawed yet exactly what the book needed.
While I was listening to this audiobook I was transported to the Cerulean Sea. I could visualize the house and the surrounds, it was beautiful! The narrator did a fantastic job.
I’m going to attach the synopsis but please head to my Bookstagram for a full review. But please do yourself a favor and read this book! You won’t regret it!
SYNOPSIS.....
Linus Baker leads a quiet, solitary life. At forty, he lives in a tiny house with a devious cat and his old records. As a Case Worker at the Department in Charge Of Magical Youth, he spends his days overseeing the well-being of children in government-sanctioned orphanages.
When Linus is unexpectedly summoned by Extremely Upper Management he's given a curious and highly classified assignment: travel to Marsyas Island Orphanage, where six dangerous children reside: a gnome, a sprite, a wyvern, an unidentifiable green blob, a were-Pomeranian, and the Antichrist. Linus must set aside his fears and determine whether or not they’re likely to bring about the end of days.
But the children aren’t the only secret the island keeps. Their caretaker is the charming and enigmatic Arthur Parnassus, who will do anything to keep his wards safe. As Arthur and Linus grow closer, long-held secrets are exposed, and Linus must make a choice: destroy a home or watch the world burn.
I gave this 5/5 stars, pure perfection!
Much love and Happy Reading,
Clarkie
